SUMMARY
 

Marília Diaz has a master’s degree on Education from the Universidade Federal do Paraná, a major in Artistic Teaching and Education, and a graduate study on Art Methodology for Higher Education. She has also taken a Professional Improvement course on Arts, Education and Educational Psychodrama. Marília has been a teacher for children in Early Childhood Education, elderly people, cognitively disabled people, and has also taught in needy communities as well as in courses and assistance programs for artists and teachers. Marília Diaz has coordinated extension program projects and has been a member of organizing committees in congresses, symposia, and workshops; founder of the project A arte constrói a História (‘Art makes History’) and proponent of the construction of a joint ceramic mural with 1500 students from the Escola Sesquicentenário in João Pessoa-PB, Brazil. She has also been a member of assistance boards, decision-making boards, curatory boards and jurying committees of juried art exhibitions.
Marília Diaz has lectured and presented conferences in several locations in Brazil and abroad, from which ANPAP (in Recife-PE, Brazil), Havana (Cuba), and Grenada (Spain) stand out. As an artist, Marília performed in several Brazilian states, in 21 object exhibitions, 59 joint exhibitions, 12 partnered exhibitions, and 12 individual exhibitions. She has received the Sala Especial award (‘Special Exhibition’) and exhibited a piece of work from the project Obra do Mês (‘Month’s Art Piece’) at the Alfredo Andersen Museum in Curitiba – PR, Brazil. Moreover, she has received two awards in 1995 in both the 5ª Salão Nacional de Arte Religiosa (‘5th Juried Exhibition of Religious Art’) at Pontifícia Universitária Católica de Curitiba and the 12º Salão Paranaense de Cerâmica (‘12th Juried Exhibition of Ceramic Art from Paraná’) at the Alfredo Andersen Museum in Curitiba – PR, Brazil.
Marília Diaz is the author of 6 children’s books, several papers, and chapters of 7 books on art teaching. Marília has been a professor at the Faculdade de Artes do Paraná (‘Paraná College of Arts’) and later at the Universidade Federal do Paraná (‘Federal University of Paraná’), as a professor of Ceramics (among other subjects) for 21 years, and as the coordinator of the Visual Arts undergraduate course for 3 terms. Between 2012 and 2015, she designed and coordinated the project Cerâmica Contemporânea: ações paralelas (‘Contemporary Ceramics: Parallel Actions’) in Curitiba-PR, Brazil, which gathered 86 ceramic artists, and promoted exhibitions, urban interventions, and art galleries. She currently works as a visual artist, performing in exhibitions, and as a writer, writing for children and adults. In November of 2020, she received the Jornada em Reconhecimento à Trajetória award (‘Journey Towards the Career’s Recognition’), named Marília Diaz: contadora de histórias, arteira e fazedora de nascimentos na área de Arte Educação (‘Marilia Dias: story-teller, art-maker and birth-creator in the Art-Education field’), from the Secretaria da Comunicação Social e da Cultura (‘Department of Culture and Social Communication’) in Curitiba-PR, Brazil.
